Tavern Talks
LiberTEA! EqualiTEA!

Tavern Talks is a monthly experience (not a lecture!) aimed exclusively for adults 21 and older that focuses on unexplored aspects of early American history and culture. Guests will experience history with hands-on activities, food and drink tastings, demonstrations, and more.

This month's Tavern Talks we invite you to create your own revolution – starting with your tea cup! Come learn about the role tea played leading up to the Revolutionary War. Discover how women used tea parties as a form of protest, taste some “anti-tea” drinks, tally up your own “Stamp Act” taxes and help us bust some 18th century tea myths. You’ll also have the chance to rub elbows with General George Washington (portrayed by Carl Closs), Alexander Hamilton (portrayed by Gene Pisasale) and African American soldier Edward "Ned" Hector (portrayed by Noah Lewis).

And as a special treat, since we couldn’t get the performers of Hamilton: An American Musical to stop by, we’re offering the next best thing: Franklin: A Nerd Musical (by Artistic Director of Brotherly Love Theatre Company David Henry Wrigley).

Tavern Talks takes place at the Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Barns Brinton House, an historic 1714 tavern, located next to the Chaddsford Winery at 630 Baltimore Pike. Admission is $15 for non-members and $10 for members. Tickets must be purchased in advance over the phone, in person or online as space is limited. All attendees must be 21 and older.

Interested in what other topics we will be covering this year? Our other 2016 Tavern Talks include:
